Join us for a truly meaningful, fun and memorable week, as we venture to the UNESCO World Heritage seaside artisan town of Jacmel. We will enjoy hands-on volunteering with 3 different children organizations, and focus on create opportunities and sustainable programs for their education and well-being. Projects include the Jacmel Children’s Center, a 13,000 square foot home and school we personally funded and built for orphaned children ages 3-10 years old. Art activities with 100 Haitian youth from Art Creation Foundation For Children (ACFFC), an arts based non-profit organization created for the personal growth, empowerment, and education of children in need. We will enjoy playing and working with children at the Faith and Love Orphanage.
Highlights include artisans visits in Haiti’s quaint and charming seaside artisan town, the handicrafts capital of Haiti. Jacmel’s charm is its old town center, full of mansions and merchants’ warehouses with a late-Victorian grace poking out from behind the wrought-iron balconies and peeling façades. We will enjoy a mosaic tour with students from the Art Creation Foundation For Children, and enjoy visiting their city block long mosaic projects with beautiful beaches and boardwalks guiding the way.
We will enjoy delicious Haitian cuisine, a beautiful waterfall hike to Bassin Bleu, a Haitian dance class with live drumming and so much more. Part of the magic of being in Haiti is discovering where and how you best like to serve- as well as enjoying mutually enriching experiences for you and the Haitians. YogaVentures Founder Lisa Rueff will offer daily yoga. Hiking and walking opportunities are also available.
